X-Trans CMOS
Taking inspiration from our experience in traditional photographic film, Fujifilm have developed the new X-Trans CMOS sensor.
The new APS-C 16MP X-Trans CMOS sensor in the X-Pro1 has been developed to fully exploit the exceptional performance of the XF lens series and capture the ultimate image quality. Taking its inspiration from our experiences of traditional photographic film, FUJIFILM have adopted an innovative color filter array that eliminates the need for an optical low-pass filter. This revolutionary sensor achieves new heights in resolution quality and delivers brilliant optical performance from every lens.
New color filter array inspired by film paves the way for an ideal sensor that does not need an optical low-pass filter.
Moiré is tackled at its root cause by the innovative color filter array of the new sensor. By enhancing the aperiodicity (randomness) in the array arrangement, the color filter minimizes the generation of moiré and false colors, eliminating the necessity for an optical low-pass filter in the lens and enabling the sensor to capture the full “unfiltered” resolution and descriptive quality of the XF lens.
A New Powerful Processor Translates Data from the X-Trans CMOS Sensor at Lighting Speed.
EXR, FUJIFILM’s original imaging concept, plays a vital role in the X-Pro1. In order to process the highly detailed image signal information captured by the complex color filter array pattern of the sensor, the X-Pro1 is fitted with the newly developed EXR Processor Pro – a powerful processor that achieves higher speed and higher precision image processing than any previous generation.
X Mount
Original “ X Mount” instantly communicates XF lens information to the body, exploiting the full potential of FUJINON Lens optical performance.
To exploit every photon of the exceptional descriptive performance of these new lenses, an original lens mount has been specially designed for X-Pro1. The reinforcedmount ring is remarkably thin - approximately 2.5mm - further improving X-Pro1’s slim profile when the lens is mounted. Using a 10 pin system, the lens instantly sends information to the camera body through the lens mount, making the lenses work seamlessly with the body and letting the photographer concentrate on what is really important - beautiful photographic expression.
Shorter back focus – the defining difference of XF lens design.
Specifically designed to maximize the mirrorless design of the body, the X-Mount has a short flange back distance of just 17.7mm. This means the rear lens elements are as close as possible to the sensor. The wide opening allows the lens to be mounted deeper within the body – up to 7.5mm (approx) from the mount surface – reducing the back focus distance of each lens to the minimum possible, thus achieving high resolution all the way to the edge of the image.
XF Lens
In the pursuit of 'X'treme image quality, Fujifilm has devloped 3 new single-focal length lenses
Complementing the launch of this new interchangeable lens system, the new XF-series lineup of 3 single-focal length lenses will offer precise control over depth-of-field and deliver excellent out-of-focus bokeh. Designed exclusively for the X-Pro1, each newly developed lens is finished to the exacting standards photographers have come to expect from Fujinon lenses.
You'll love the feel of the lens. Every time your fingers twist the 1/3 aperture increments, you'll hunger for more.
Specially designed to deliver improved center-to-edge resolution and brightness free from chromatic aberration, each lens is a masterpiece of FUJINON optical engineering and quality, and features all-glass fabrication of the aspherical lens and other lens elements, as well as treatment with FUJINON’s original Super EBC coating. From the solid feel of the high-quality metal barrel, to each click of the 1/3-step aperture ring as you fine-tune your exposure, this is a lens that photographers dream of.
Hybrid Multi Viewfinder
A New Hybrid Viewfinder that Optimizes Magnification Depending on the Lens
"Photographers love viewfinders". This simple style of shooting defines one of the essential pleasures of photography. It is also the inspiration behind the development of our Hybrid Viewfinder, with its capability to instantly switch between an Optical Viewfinder (OVF) and Electronic Viewfinder (EVF). Automatically switching opticalviewfinder magnification (Wide and Standard) and frame size (multiple steps) depending on the mounted XF lens, the Hybrid "Multi" Viewfinder is every photographer's dream, giving the best of both the optical and the digital worlds.
Freedom to Shoot with the OVF or EVF
Depending on the shooting conditions and your creative vision, you can instantly switch between using an optical viewfinder (OVF) or an electronic viewfinder (EVF) to compose your shot. Without taking your eye from the viewfinder or moving your index finger from the shutter button, a simple pull and release of the switch lever with your middle finger smoothly switches between modes.
Optical Viewfinder (OVF)
Optical Image Clarity Plus Display of Key Shooting Data. Perfectly frame each shot with the sharply defined bright frame projected by a built-in, high-performance LCD panel. You also have the freedom to customize what information is displayed in the viewfinder for easy confirmation of the settings you need.
Perfectly Frame and Preview Your Shot with the Electronic Viewfinder (EVF)
Enjoy 100% coverage on a sharp image display produced by a 0.47-inch high definition LCD boasting approximately 1,440,000 dots of resolution. Delivering a crisp, clear display of the scene for both “Live View” framing and a quick post-shot review of your results, the EVF is ideal when composing macro shots and other scenes that demand high-precision framing.
Automatic Magnification Switch According to the Focal Length of the Mounted Lens
When you change XF-series lenses, both the viewfinder magnification and bright frame size automatically switch to support the lens focal length. Viewfinder magnification switches to 0.37x when the 18mm lens is mounted, and to 0.60x for the 35mm or 60mm lens, letting you frame your shot with the bright, crystal clarity of an optical image. You can also manually set a focal distance and switch between viewfinder magnifications by holding down the viewfinder switch lever for more 2 seconds.
Smooth Visual Switch to EVF
Enabling the optical viewfinder to switch between Wide and Standard magnification reduces the difference in the angle of view when switching to EVF. The result is a smoother and more natural visual shift between viewfinder modes.
