Unique LUCIA 12-ink system
The PIXMA PRO-1 has a 12-ink LUCIA pigment system that delivers an exceptional colour gamut and includes five types of monochrome ink — Gray, Light Gray, Dark Gray, Photo Black and Matte Black — for excellent detail in shadow and highlight areas, smooth tonal gradation and suppressed graininess.
The Chroma Optimizer ink introduced with the PIXMA PRO-1 offers enhanced black density and uniform glossiness as well as an anti-bronzing effect to ensure that any metallic luster-like iridescence in gray colours, due to colours in reflected light, is considerably reduced.
The large volume ink tanks in the PIXMA PRO-1 are 2.5x larger than any tanks used in previous PIXMA Pro printers so you get higher productivity and less ink tank changes. The ink tanks are easily accessed on either side of the main printer body via front-opening panels.
A3+ & 14" wide high-speed print capability
The PIXMA PRO-1 allows you to produce saleable prints in sizes ranging from 10x15cm up to A3+ and 14” wide media — this is perfect for producing exhibition prints. In addition to this gallery-quality prints are produced in approximately two minutes and 55 seconds — that’s five minutes faster than those produced from the previous generation PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II printer.
The PRO-1 accepts glossy and art papers, and special media. The rear tray takes up to 20 sheets of photo paper, while the manual feed slot accepts photo paper up to 356mm (14”) wide as well as heavier fine art papers.
FINE print head and 1200ppi input resolution
The FINE print head of the PIXMA PRO-1 features 12,288 nozzles that deliver virtually grain-free photos. The PIXMA PRO-1 supports 1200ppi input resolution (double in comparison to the resolution of any previous PIXMA Pro printer) to reflect the increasing number of pixels available on professional cameras and to produce smoother prints with high resolutions up to 4800x2400dpi.
Archival inks for image longevity
The inks used by the PIXMA PRO-1 give a light-fastness of approximately 60 years and gas-fastness of approximately 50 years — giving the long-life, fade-resistant prints required to sell your images. Longevity in a photo album is over 200 years.
Colour modes
The PIXMA PRO-1 also features three colour modes — a new Photo Colour print mode, a Linear Tone mode that reproduces colours with linear tone curve, and an ICC Profiles mode so photographers can utilise paper-specific colour profiles or create their own colour profiles. The Photo Colour print mode reproduces fresh blues and greens to match people’s memory of colours.
Ambient Light Correction
The Ambient Light Correction feature (Windows Vista and 7 only) automatically corrects the print colour tones for accurate colour rendition in the lighting conditions under which prints will be displayed.
Network capabilities
The PIXMA PRO-1’s Ethernet enables multiple users at different computers to share a single printer with an Ethernet port.
Software support?
The PIXMA PRO-1 comes with Easy-PhotoPrint Pro plug-in software that simplifies printer settings and allows batch printing. Support has been expanded to the full Adobe Photoshop® family, including Lightroom®, as well as to Canon’s Digital Photo Professional (DPP) software. The printer can automatically select the correct ICC profile for each Canon paper, whilst an expanded range of ICC profiles is available to download for Fine Art and glossy papers from well-known manufacturers.
The Colour Management Tool Pro software supports x-rite colour management tools, including Colour Munki Photo and Colour Munki Design, and enables users to create custom ICC profiles to ensure the optimum output quality.
Who is it for?
The PIXMA PRO-1 printer will appeal to both professional and advanced amateur photographers who are looking to produce quality, long-lasting prints. Built to endure heavy usage, with little need for ink tank changes, it delivers superb high-speed, gallery-quality prints for photographers who are serious about exhibiting and selling their images. The PIXMA PRO-1 will also have great appeal to print shops and professional studios.
